Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi-making techniques. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and sushi bar area.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
  • Assist in menu planning, including seasonal offerings and special events.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the culinary field.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation, cooking, and food service.
  • Experience in fine dining establishments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dietary department practices and catering is a plus.
  • Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various sushi-making techniques.
  • Understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
