Job Description: CNC Designer (CAD/CAM) – DMG MORI & Siemens CNC Machines
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Designer with strong experience in designing parts, creating machining programs, and developing toolpaths for modern CNC machines, specifically DMG MORI models operated with Siemens control systems.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for converting engineering requirements into precise CAD/CAM designs and CNC programs that ensure accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs for machining components using CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Mastercam).
• Create accurate toolpaths and CNC programs optimized for DMG MORI machines with Siemens controls.
• Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to generate production-ready machining files.
• Design fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutions for CNC machining operations.
• Optimize cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies to reduce cycle time and improve finish quality.
• Work closely with CNC Operators/Technicians to ensure designs are producible and efficient.
• Validate designs through simulations and verify accuracy before releasing programs to the shop floor.
• Troubleshoot machining issues related to design, toolpaths, or program errors.
• Maintain and update design files, program libraries, tool lists, and documentation.
Requirements
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a CNC Designer, CAD/CAM Programmer, or Mechanical Designer.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software: SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar.
• Strong knowledge working with DMG MORI CNC machines and Siemens CNC controllers.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
• Experience designing for multi-axis machining (3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis).
• Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, toolpath strategies, and material properties.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Technology, or related field.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with DMU, NHX, NTX, or similar DMG MORI series.
• Knowledge of CAM simulation tools to detect collisions and optimize machining cycles.
• Understanding of optimization techniques such as LEAN Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Strong collaboration skills to support engineers, machinists, and production teams.
