Senior Mechanical Engineer (Steel Fabrication & Piping)

A leading fabrication and engineering firm in Bahrain is seeking a skilled and multilingual Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for managing steel fabrication and piping projects, ensuring client satisfaction, and contributing to the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities
Project Management (Full Cycle): Take ownership of steel fabrication and piping projects from the initial inquiry and design phase all the way through to final handover and closeout.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, effectively translating their needs into actionable engineering plans and maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimation & Quotation: Accurately estimate project material, labor, and overhead costs, and prepare comprehensive, competitive quotations and tenders.
Technical Execution: Oversee and guide the technical execution of fabrication and piping work, ensuring compliance with specifications, industry standards, and quality control procedures.
Design Review & Optimization: Review project designs, suggest value engineering alternatives, and optimize fabrication and installation processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Site & Workshop Coordination: Coordinate activities between the engineering office, fabrication workshop, and project sites to maintain schedules and resolve any technical issues promptly.
Procurement Support: Collaborate with the procurement team to specify materials and technical requirements for purchasing.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure all project activities adhere to the company's strict HSE policies and local regulations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in the steel fabrication and piping industry (e.g., structural steel, pressure vessels, process piping).
Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings (P&IDs, Isometrics, GA drawings), specifications, and welding procedures (WPS/PQR). Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Project).
Project Finance: Strong background in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
Client Focus: Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to manage client expectations and deliverables.
Preferred Requirements
Local Transfer: Candidates currently residing in Bahrain and eligible for local transfer will be given preference.
Driving: Valid Bahraini Driving License is highly favored due to the need for frequent site visits.
Language Skills: Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Professional working proficiency in Hindi and Malayalam is required to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce and clients.
