    Full job description

    Mercy Ridge Retirement Community in Timonium, Maryland is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to join our team! This is a full time non-exempt position, which may include overtime on an as needed basis. Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services, the Environmental Services Technician is primarily responsible for the daily cleaning and appearance of the common and non-residential areas of the facility. Periodic project work may be included in the duties of this position. Also, may be required to assist with set-ups and breakdowns, move-in preparation, moving of furniture, appliances, and other items deemed necessary.


    Essential Functions    :

    • Performs both routine and periodic cleaning of common or non-residential areas. Tasks to include floor care (vacuuming, extracting, sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing and spotting), upholstery care, waste removal, elevator cleaning, high and low dusting, cleaning of walls and other surfaces, restrooms and other duties assigned.
    • Polices grounds for trash or debris and removes trash from facilities. Washes windows, provides resident assistance with carrying baggage/trash, cleans resident carpets and/or upholstery, and may fill in as Housekeeper in resident homes.
    • Provides support for cleanup of leaks, spills, floods, fire, etc.
    • Assists Maintenance/Facilities Department in emergency situations to include weather and building emergencies (including disaster emergencies such as snow, ice storms, fire, tornados, hurricane, and floods).
    • Is placed on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

    Qualifications

    • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
    • Position requires a minimum of one to three years experience in Housekeeping, preferably in a hospitality or health care environment.
    • A valid driver's license in good standing is preferred.
