    Full job description

    Rooster Haus Rescue is hiring a part-time animal caretaker! The ideal candidate is someone who is dedicated to providing compassionate animal care and whose values are aligned with our mission. Duties include feeding, administering medication, and/or cleaning while monitoring residents’ health and behavior and ensuring safety at all times. Previous experience is not required. All training is paid.

    We’re currently hiring for any or all of the below shift types. Employees will be given the flexibility to choose which shifts they prefer to work. Shifts can be combined (i.e. employees may choose to work morning + afternoon shifts or afternoon + evening shifts on the same day).

    Morning shifts: 8:30am-12:00pm

    • Must be comfortable caring for sanctuary residents including chickens, turkeys, ducks, peafowl, pigeons, and fish
    • Prepare food for residents under special care
    • Prepare and administer medications to residents under special care
    • Fill water and food bowls; clean bowls as needed
    • Open coops to let residents out into their predator-proof enclosures
    • Restock 40lb bags of food into containers around sanctuary
    • Ensure ongoing safety of residents, i.e. be watchful of abnormal behavior, potential medical issues, environmental hazards, fencing breaches or aviary netting damage, etc.
    • Clean coops and enclosures
    • Refill sanitary boot baths

    Afternoon shifts: 11:00am-4:00pm

    • Clean coops and enclosures
    • Refill sanitary boot baths
    • Restock 40lb bags of food into containers around sanctuary
    • Ensure food and water bowls are full and clean
    • Distribute produce and/or scratch to residents
    • Ensure ongoing safety of residents, i.e. be watchful of abnormal behavior, potential medical issues, environmental hazards, fencing breaches or aviary netting damage, etc.

    Evening shifts: 4:00pm-8:00pm (spring/autumn), 6:00pm-10:00pm (summer), 2:00pm-5:00pm (winter)
