About SEK International School Qatar

Opened in 2013, SEK International School Qatar is located at the prominent West Bay, Al Farouq Street in Doha. The city of Doha is the nation’s capital and largest city, with a population of 1.5 million. An IB World School, SEK is provisioned to teach the International Baccalaureate in continuum from entrance at age 3 to the conclusion of secondary at age 18. The main language of instruction here is English, with further language opportunities offered in Spanish and Arabic. Sports facilities include a multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, and outdoor football, basketball and volleyball courts.

Required jobs in SEK International School and their details:

1. MYP Coordinator - Middle School Principal

Ensure that the daily operation of our Middle School reflects the school mission and values and that those are implemented through the IB Middle Years Programme.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the design of the strategic plan of the school.

Keep abreast of educational developments and research in the age range related to the MYP. 

Provide pedagogical and administrative leadership with a focus on developing learning and teaching.

Work in collaboration with the Director of Learning & Teaching, PYP and DP coordinators to oversee IB evaluation visits and action plans.

Ensure high standards of teaching and learning through regular classroom visits, co-teaching and supporting teachers in their own professional learning.

Ensure that the IB Standards and Practices and Programme requirements are implemented in the school. This includes:

Review, development and promotion of the programme implementation throughout the school and the school community

Organization and leadership of MYP meetings/workshops for parents or others related to the programme, at the Head of the School’s request.

Organization of the MYP Teachers’ Professional Development Plan ensuring teachers are in compliance with the IB requirements in this regard.

Organization and leadership of the collaborative planning process.

Design and implementation of the induction process for new teachers.

Assume day-to-day responsibility for the management of Middle School student behaviour, attendance, and discipline in cooperation with tutors.

Take a collaborative leadership role in the transition of students into MYP and DP.

Develop the school timetable, duty, covers, rotas and other supervision according to academic and balanced wider curriculum requirements.

Requirements:

Extensive background in secondary curriculum, standards and pedagogy. 

3 years experience in a leadership position. 

IB Educator Network member as a workshop leader, visiting team member or consultant is desirable. 

Teaching qualification. 

Relevant experience in MYP and DP teaching and implementation.  

Familiar with IT tools (ManageBac). 

Strong organisational and communication skills. 

Excellent interpersonal and time management skills. 

Fluency in English. Arabic and Spanish desirable. 

NEASC experience will be viewed favourably. 

2. MYP/DP Mathematics Applications & Interpretations teacher

Promote student learning, through carefully planned, taught and assessed lessons, and ensure that students have the opportunities to develop in all areas: academic, physical, socio-emotional and ethical. Promote the respect and understanding of the culture of the host country, Qatar.

Responsibilities:

Plan, teach and assess relevant, global and significant learning engagements that differentiate individual student needs, according to the requirements of the corresponding IB programme. 

Create a stimulating classroom environment. 

Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary units of work and the development of transdisciplinary skills and attributes of the IB learner Profile. 

Include technology in the students’ learning experiences as a valid support to the process. 

Give students regular feedback, both orally and written, and encourage students to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress.

Requirements:

Teaching qualification adequate for the teaching job. 

ICT knowledge. 

Experience relevant to the job. 

Fluency in English. 

Double degrees, master and international experience are valued positively. 

Previous experience of teaching the IB MYP and IB DP is preferred, although outstanding candidates without prior IB experience will be considered

3. PYP Homeroom Teacher

Promote student learning, through carefully planned, taught and assessed lessons, and ensure that students have the opportunities to develop in all areas: academic, physical, socio-emotional and ethical. Promote the respect and understanding of the culture of the host country, Qatar.

Responsibilities:

Plan, teach and assess relevant, global and significant learning engagements that differentiate for individual student needs, according to the requirements of the corresponding IB programme.

Create a stimulating classroom environment.

Engage in some type of student activities beyond the classroom.

Participate in and assist with school events as required.

Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary units of work and the development of transdisciplinary skills and attributes of the IB learner Profile.

Use inquiry as a pedagogical framework for learning and teaching.

Include technology in the students’ learning experiences as a valid support to the process.

Give students regular feedback, both orally and written, and encourage students to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress.

Requirements:

Teaching qualification adequate for the teaching job.

ICT knowledge.

Experience relevant to the job.

Fluency in English. Arabic and Spanish desirable.
